The NBA 2K22 developers respond to E-Gilas' questions about the upcoming game
In just a week after revealing the cover athletes for NBA 2K22, 2K Sports released an exclusive preview showcasing some of the game's new features, with even more to be revealed in August and September of this year.
NBA 2K22: First in-game look at cover-athletes Luka Doncic, Dirk Nowitzki and Canadace Parker as part of new features
Most notably, the in-game appearances of all cover athletes, including Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic, Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki, and WNBA superstar Candace Parker, served as the centerpiece of the new features.
Doncic is featured on the covers of the Standard Edition and Cross-Gen Digital Bundle, among other publications. With Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kevin Durant on the cover of the NBA 75th Anniversary Edition, Nowitzki is one of three legends who have transformed the game. Candace Parker is on the cover of the WNBA 75th Anniversary Edition.
Aside from the numerous new features, such as improved gameplay that gives players more control and combinations to score the ball on offense, as well as ways to counter these same moves on defense, the game also includes a new look and feel.
According to the press release, more significant changes to the gameplay can be expected later in August. The New City and New Neighbourhood experiences are also included in the new features. The New City experience allows players to compete in a city that is bustling with life and activity, while the New Neighbourhood experience allows them to compete on the spacious decks of a sailing cruise ship.

The NBA 2K22 developers respond to E-Gilas' questions about the upcoming game.
The NBA 2K22 development team approached us for an interview, but we decided to step back and pass the questions along to the people who are most likely to put their all into this game: the intrepid lineup of E-Gilas, the Philippine national team for NBA 2K.(Special thanks to Aljon Shintarou Cruzin for his assistance in getting this up and running.)
E-Gilas has had an incredible year since they first came together in 2020. They took home two gold medals at the recent Fiba Esports Opens, defeating long-time rivals Indonesia and establishing themselves as a regional NBA 2K22 MT powerhouse.
For Visual Concepts, which recently unveiled the latest iteration of the NBA 2K franchise, E-Gilas posed the following question:What is the main difference between the 2K21 next gen and the 2K22 next gen? Is it true that we'll be going on an abangan?
Visual Concepts kept their response to a minimum in their emailed response, saving more details for gameplay deep dives that will be revealed in August and September.
They did, however, tease their upgrades on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. The representative explained that “shot timing is more dynamic and takes into account more variables, such as energy and defensive pressure.”It was also stated that players would benefit greatly from mastering the shot meter and knowing their signature shot this year.
In general, NBA 2K22 will reward players who take the time to learn the ins and outs of their controlled player's position.“In addition, a slew of new signature dribble moves and combos have been introduced.“Players who put in the effort to learn their combos and master their signature moves will be extremely difficult to defeat in a one-on-one match,” the developers stated.
This provides some additional insight into the more "skill-based" offense and increased defensive emphasis that NBA 2K22 promised in its first developer blog, which was published just this week.
E-Gilas was also interested in learning how the game will deal with connectivity issues, which are a common problem for gamers in developing countries. Visual Concepts, on the other hand, did not respond to this specific question.
